Some astrologers believe that it is unfavorable to wear a gem for ill houses of the horoscope. In many cases the ruler of the 8th house becomes a troubling planet (but that alone does not mean a gem for that planet is not good), but when the Sun or Moon rules the 8th house they do not get blemished because these are the very planets that rule the person, and for this reason it is always highly recommended by the ancient Sanskrit texts to wear the gems for the Sun and the Moon.
